The currently increased interest in the Titanfall universe might result in reigniting last year's rumors regarding the development of Titanfall 3 at Respawn. After trailers for Apex Legends' Legacy Season arrived, Titanfall 2 peaked at 16,958 concurrent users. According to Steam Charts, the game's new all-time peak now stands at 27,547 concurrent players, which is a significant increase over even the previous week's increase. Moreover, the game’s newest Legend is Viper’s daughter, Valkyrie, who literally carries her parent’s legacy on her back and uses abilities directly lifted from the game's Northstar Titan class. Many familiar faces were teased by Respawn in a series of trailers for the battle royale spin-off, including two Titanfall 2 villains, Ash and Viper.

Leading up to the community-driven May 1 revival event, Titanfall 2 player numbers swelled by 750% on Steam. This massive increase in player activity followed the announcement of Titanfall-themed content for Apex Legends’ upcoming Legacy season. A week after Titanfall 2 skyrocketed in popularity on Steam, the game has set a new personal best concurrent player count, eclipsing its previous launch record. This is thanks to a large online community effort by players to reanimate Respawn Entertainment's critically acclaimed game (and potentially hopes for a sequel), and part of the renewed interest can possibly be attributed to its battle royale spin-off, Apex Legends.
